GROUNDBREAKING NEW BOOK ON ST. ANDREWS

The St Andrews Festival, from the 28th until the 30th November, will see the launch of the groundbreaking new book, The Lost Ark Of St Andrews by Glaswegian author John Ferguson. After nearly two years of research, the book tells of the forgotten history of Scotland during the middle ages. Focusing on the town of St Andrews and its mystical past, the book explains the importance of the reliquary of the first apostle, St Andrew, and the mystique of the town itself. Delving into the local chronicles of the legendary Templar and Hospitaller Knights, the book investigates the theories behind the lost Cathedral treasure, and the possibility that the mythical vessel may still exist. An enlightening read for those interested in history, religion, mysticism and conspiracy theories, the author feels he has filled a gap in people’s knowledge of a town more famous as the “Home Of Golf”. “The forgotten history and myth of St Andrews is a great piece of Scottish history. There is a wonderful romance to these tales and our nation should be very proud to celebrate this part of our heritage.”, said Mr Ferguson at the announcement of the book’s launch.

Bringing to light the connections between St Andrews and Robert The Bruce during the Wars Of Independence, it reveals just how important the Knights’ Templar were in the town, and how their influence could be felt until the Reformation and beyond.

Speaking for the first time about his research, and the plans to turn the book into a guided tour and documentary, Mr. Ferguson will be taking questions and signing copies of his book at St Andrews Town Hall between 11am and 4pm on the 28th November as part of the Homecoming Scotland celebrations.
